The Honorable Dr. Alfred N. Mutua, EGH, Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs attended the 22nd Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting, which was held at Marlborough House on March 15, 2023. Foreign Affairs Ministers meet annually to discuss matters of collective interest to the Commonwealth, such as the implementation of Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) mandates, current global issues affecting the Commonwealth, territorial disputes, and the work of the Commonwealth Secretariat.

In the margins of the 22nd CFAMM, the Cabinet Secretary had the pleasure of holding bilateral meetings with his counterparts to discuss issues of mutual importance with:

a) The Rt. Hon. James Cleverly, British Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development

b) His Excellency Abdulla Shahid, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Maldives

c) Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan; and

d) The Honorable Frederick A. Mitchell, M.P., Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Public Service of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.

In an effort to promote trade and investment opportunities in Kenya, the Mission also facilitated the Cabinet Secretary's meeting with the Westminster Business Group in London. The Cabinet Secretary outlined Kenya's new resolve and determination to combat bureaucracy and corruption.

The Cabinet Secretary met the leadership of the Kenyan Diaspora in the UK and discussed possible partnerships with the Government and also had the opportunity to engage Young Kenyan Professionals based in the United Kingdom in exploring methods for advancing Kenya's strategic goals in the United Kingdom.

Under the auspices of the Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOX), the Cabinet Secretary addressed a symposium on Kenya's social-economic development agenda entitled Kenya at 60: Kenya's Journey to Statehood.
