Kenya and the United Kingdom (UK) enjoy a longstanding and dynamic relationship rooted in shared history, strong political ties, robust economic cooperation, and vibrant cultural exchange. This multifaceted partnership was further strengthened in January 2020 with the launch of the UK–Kenya Strategic Partnership Framework (2020–2025), unveiled during the UK–Africa Investment Summit in London.

In a continuation of this spirit of collaboration, H.E. Catherine Kirumba Karemu, Kenya’s High Commissioner to the UK, joined Lord Collins of Highbury, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Africa) of the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office on 21st May 2025 to officially launch #UKKenyaSeason2025. The event was hosted by the Africa Centre and coordinated by the British Council, underscoring the growing cultural bridge between our two nations.

#UKKenyaSeason2025 is a celebration of creativity, innovation, and shared heritage, spotlighting partnerships across the arts, technology, education, and cultural preservation. The launch featured the opening of the powerful exhibition "In Transit Under Another Sky", curated by Rosie Olang’ and Mirembe. The exhibition explored themes of movement, identity and the beauty of transience timely reflections in an interconnected world. Guests were treated to an immersive cultural experience including a curators-led walkthrough, captivating live performances and a specially curated DJ set.

The season marks the beginning of a vibrant calendar of events exhibitions, performances, workshops, and more taking place across the UK. Each event aims to deepen mutual understanding and foster enduring people-to-people connections through the universal languages of art, culture, and education.
