Applications can be made through the Kenya High Commission London either manually by completing the necessary application documents or online via www.ecitizen.go.ke.

The waiting period for applications made through the e-citizen system is about 10 working days and between 6-8 weeks for applications made manually through the High Commission.

Provide your full name and postal address, telephone number and emails on the application forms before sending your application by post to facilitate dispatch of processed documents.

Note that it shall be the responsibility of clients to immediately notify us in writing via immigration@kenyahighcom.org.uk  of any changes to their postal address to avoid inconveniences in delivery of services.

It is important to note that the waiting period for applications made through the e-citizen system is about 10 working days and between 6-8 weeks for applications submitted through the High Commission.

Applications for Kenyan child who are under 18 years of age are done through their parent/guardian e-citizen account.

Application for Police Clearance Certificate is also now available at the Huduma Centres.  

Incomplete applications will not be processed and will be rejected.

For Kenyan citizens living in the United Kingdom, applications can either be launched through the High Commission or online through E-Citizen, available on this link.

Foreign Citizen applicants based in the United Kingdom, seeking to be issued with this certificate can submit their applications through the Mission. Alternatively, this can be made directly with the DCI Office in Nairobi. For more information please visit this link

Do I need to do anything else after I have registered via e-citizen system?

Yes, Kenyan citizens will need to have an e-citizen account. After you have dully registered and made the necessary payment for the services via e-citizen system; you will still need to send/post the original fingerprints and palm prints taken by UK police authorities or Notary Public or commissioner for oaths of your preference in the UK, together with a copy of payment receipt (issued via E-citizen) and copy of your 2nd Generation Kenya National ID Card (both sides) to the High Commission.

The following are the requirements and application process:  

E-POLICE Clearance Certificate Application (Only For Kenyan Citizens)
  1. Applicable to the Kenyan citizens who have attained a minimum age of 18 years

  2. One must also be a holder of a second-generation Kenya National Identification Card.

  3. You need to have an e-Citizen account. If you don’t have one, create the account by visiting www.ecitizen.go.ke.

  4. Once logged in, please click Directorate of Criminal Investigations to start your application.

  5. On the form when asked to state where you would wish to submit/have your fingerprints taken, please click Nairobi County then DCI/CDI, Headquarters.

  6. You will also be required to select the preferred mode of payment and pay Ksh. 1,050 (including via M-Pesa for those able to use M-Pesa facility) before submitting online application. Those using foreign currency will be required to pay an equivalent of Kshs. 1,050.

  7. Download and print two (2) copies of your payment invoice, and one copy of your C24 (dully filled Application) on both sides on an A4 paper. C24 application form can be also be found at www.kenyahighcom.org.uk See Forms and Downloads under Consular Services. (click here to visit)

  8. Obtain a complete set of finger-prints and palm-prints. This must be taken in prescribed forms at a Police Station or Notary Public or Commissioner for Oaths of your preference in the United Kingdom which must also bear the official stamp/endorsement.

During the submission at the High Commission you need the following:
  1. An application letter, addressed to the High Commissioner, Kenya High Commission, 45 Portland Place, London, W1B 1AS.

  2. Dully filled application form.

  3. Duly completed original fingerprints and palm prints taken in prescribed forms by the UK Police or Notary Public or commissioner for oaths of your preference in the UK.

  4. 2 copies of payment invoice.

  5. 2 copies of clear photocopies of applicant’s Kenya 2nd generation National ID Card for adults and two copies of Kenya Birth Certificate if minors.

  6. Dully completed application form together with other necessary supportive documentation should be sent by post to the address provided here below: The High Commissioner Kenya High Commission 45 Portland Place, London W1B 1AS

  7. Once application(s) have been submitted to DCI Headquarters, the request (s) will be processed and certificate issued via e-citizen platform, hence applicants are advised to log into their e-citizen account download and print out their certificate

Manual Application Through The High Commission (Kenyan Citizens)
  1. Download and dully complete the application forms (Application for Police Clearance Certificate). To access the forms, please see Forms and Downloads on High Commission website www.kenyahighcom.org.uk

  2. An application letter, addressed to the High Commissioner, Kenya High Commission, 45 Portland Place, London, W1B 1AS. This should briefly provide details of the services one is seeking for.

  3. A complete set of finger-prints and palm-prints, taken in prescribed forms at a police station or Notary Public or Commissioner for Oaths of your preference in the United Kingdom. This must also bear an official stamp/endorsement.

  4. 2 copies of clear photocopies of applicant’s 2nd Generation Kenya National ID Card for adults or two copies of Kenya Birth Certificate and Kenya Passport if minors

  5. Attach a fee of £10.00 Postal Order or Bankers Cheque payable to Kenya High Commission, London.

  6. Dully completed application documents should be send by post to the following address:The High Commissioner,Kenya High Commission 45 Portland Place, London W1B 1AS

  7. For those who wish to submit the application at the High Commission Counter, payment can be made via Debit Card at the Office. However, you will need to have a confirmed appointment booked via www.kenyahighcom.org.uk before you travel to the High Commission for submission of the application.

  8. A secure, registered, and trackable self-addressed envelope with pre-paid postage stamps for the dispatch of your document. The envelope should have sufficient return postage (not less than 500g and clearly indicating full names and post code of the applicant.

  9. All parcels containing the application should be addressed to: The High Commissioner, Kenya High Commission, 45 Portland Place, London, W1B 1AS.

NB: The Mission does neither accept personal cheques, Money Orders nor Cash for payment of the processing fees.  Incomplete application form shall be returned to the applicants.

Manual Application Through The High Commission (Non-Kenyan Citizens in the UK)

  2. An application letter, addressed to the High Commissioner, Kenya High Commission, 45 Portland Place, London, W1B 1AS. This should briefly provide details of the services one is seeking for.

  3. A complete set of finger-prints and palm-prints, taken in prescribed forms at a police station or Notary Public or Commissioner for Oaths of your preference in the United Kingdom. This must also bear an official stamp/endorsement.

  4. 2 copies of applicant’s valid Passport.

  5. Documentary proof that the applicant ever resided in Kenya for at least 6 months continuously without leaving the country: copies of passport pages bearing the entry and exit endorsements by Kenya authorities.Other additional supportive documentary evidence (where applicable) may include Work/ residence permits, letters of appointment/employment, Dependant Passes, etc. Students are required to produce passport entry/exit endorsements by Kenya authorities, copies of Student Passes accompanied with relevant testimonials and/or certificates proving completion of the Studies. etc.

  6. Attach a fee of £10.00 Postal Order or Bankers Cheque payable to Kenya High Commission, London.

  8. For those who wish to physically submit their application at the High Commission Counter, payment can be made via Debit Card. However, you will require to have a confirmed appointment booked via  www.kenyahighcom.org.uk before you travel.
