In a continued attempt to strengthen the health protection at the borders in order to increase security against the new COVID-19 variants, the UK Government has announced new enforcement measures for quarantined passengers that will come into force beginning Monday 15 February 2021.
These new measures build up on those already in place, which include the Tier4: 'Stay at Home' restrictions and refusal of entry to non-UK residents from UK’s travel ban list countries. The updated measures include;
- All arrivals at ports of entry will be required to undertake 2 mandatory COVID-19 tests –on day 2 and day 8 of their 10-day quarantine. This will be in addition to the already existing requirement to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 3 days before departure and must self-isolate on arrival for 10 days on arrival along with their household.
- All arrivals must fill the Passenger locator forms and in addition to providing the detail of their travel journey one must also provide a quarantine package booking reference number to complete the passenger locator form. You can complete it up to 48 hours before you enter the UK and should do so before arrival.
- The Government of Kenya is closely monitoring the latest COVID-19updated restrictions. It urges Kenyans living and travelling to the United Kingdom to remain vigilant and adhere to the prescribed precaution and prevention guidelines provided.
- The health, welfare and safety of Kenyans living in the United Kingdom remain a top priority for the Mission and the Government of the Republic of Kenya.
